NRS Cast Iron Gate Valve Manufacturer in India
A NRS cast iron gate valve is a non-rising stem isolation valve in which the internally threaded stem rotates within the valve without moving vertically outside the body. This arrangement provides positive shut-off with limited overhead clearance. Speciality Valve manufactures and offers NRS cast iron gate valve for fluid isolation systems. Speciality Valve provides configurations for different pressure ratings, sizes, operating arrangements and piping connections.
NRS Cast Iron Gate Valve Applications:
Municipal water distribution: Sectional isolation in water mains and distribution networks.
Water treatment plants: Isolation of raw-water, treated-water and utility lines.
Wastewater systems: Shut-off service in compatible treatment and utility piping.
Fire-water networks: Isolation of sections within compatible fire-protection systems.
Irrigation pipelines: Flow isolation across water-distribution netFworks.
Non-Rising Stem Construction:
Internal stem arrangement: The threaded stem rotates without rising above the valve body during operation.
Wedge gate: Moves perpendicular to the pipeline flow to open or close the passage.
Stem nut: Converts rotational input from the handwheel into axial gate movement.
Seat engagement: The wedge moves against the seats to establish shut-off.
Full-bore opening: The gate retracts from the flow passage when fully open.
Compact height: The NRS arrangement avoids the vertical stem travel of a rising stem valve.
Operating position: Gate position is not visually indicated by stem height, unlike an OS&Y rising stem design.
NRS Gate Valve Material Grades:
Isolation: Intended primarily for fully open or fully closed pipeline service. Flow resistance: A fully open gate provides a relatively unobstructed passage. Closure movement: Multi-turn operation moves the wedge progressively toward the seats. Bidirectional service: Suitable wedge designs can provide isolation in either flow direction. Overhead clearance: Non-rising stem construction reduces the vertical space required above the valve. Throttling limitation: Gate valves are generally not intended for continuous throttling because prolonged partially open operation can cause seat and gate damage. Maintenance: Internal stem threads require appropriate lubrication and protection according to the valve design and service environment. The body material should be selected according to pressure, temperature, fluid compatibility and mechanical requirements. Internal components may use different materials from the pressure-containing body, particularly for stems, gates, seats and other wetted parts. MSS SP-70: Requirements for applicable cast iron gate valves. AWWA C500: Applicable to certain gate valves used in waterworks service. EN 1171: Industrial gate valve requirements for applicable configurations. ASME B16.10: Face-to-face and end-to-end dimensions where applicable. ASME B16.1: Cast iron flange dimensions where applicable. API 598: Inspection and pressure testing where specified. ISO 5208: Pressure and leakage testing of metallic valves where applicable. Shell test: Checks pressure-boundary integrity. Seat test: Verifies closure and leakage performance.
